MN: ‘American Milan’ left sorely lacking in ‘identity and belonging’

AC Milan are in a perilous position as things stand, and unless changes are made, it will only get worse.

Football can be as simple or difficult as you make it, and at present, Milan are making it very difficult. It is easy to say this after losing a game like the Coppa Italia, of course. However, the pot has been close to boiling over for sometime and it did last night.

Protests increased in volume and it feels like the scales have finally tipped too far to turn back if things continue on this path.

Almost everyone thinks the same, and whilst fears were present about no changes with a win, there are doubts about anything changing despite last night’s performance after Furlani once again stated that conversations would take place at the end of the season.

Milan News, this afternoon, have stated that this is the third consecutive ‘disastrous’ ending to a season for the Rossoneri – referencing the Champions League defeat to Inter, the loss to Roma and last night’s events.

A tragedy in itself, however, not even the biggest one concerning the club. Under RedBird the ‘American Milan’ has ‘lost its soul, identity and belonging’ – harrowing words that feel beyond true, as frustrating as that may be.

Gerry Cardinale has not let his presence be felt in almost a year, and this shows. Look at Bologna, the report pleads, whose owner was shown several times last night in attendance, whilst the cameras panned between the members of the inefficient Milanese management.

Projects cannot be judged in their infancy, but after three years, the signs are not positive under RedBird, and it can only be deemed a failure so far. In sport, the only thing that matters is to win, and it seems the owners have forgotten that, prioritising cash flow and spreadsheets.

Change is needed, quickly. Milan at this point are unrecognisable and the situation will only further deteriorate without urgent aid.

  1. American Ownership just doesn’t work. Just look at the destruction at Man Utd.
Is it good Idea for Europeans to go to the United States and lecture them about the Constitution…..😜

    1. I wouldn’t mind having Liverpool’s American owners. They clearly want to win trophies and have a plan to do so. And the money.

        1. Yes cause that is what they can afford. Milan need owners capable of dropping 50 or 60 mill for a world class player to take them to the next level, this is what Maldini was trying to tell them

      1. Not the money. After American takeover 7 years ago, Milan spend slightly more than Liverpool. Huge difference between Milan and Liverpool is vision and management

    2. Yes.

I’d take most European constitutions over the American one.

Look at the state of their Supreme Court.

  2. Furlani: “Maldini’s exit? To realize Gerry’s vision for the club, we had to change and move forward.”

    That aged well.

  3. Who needs identity?

We’ve had a wonderful shopping spree over the last few years.

All of the comings and goings. There’s been so much to talk about.

I mean that’s what football is really about. The transfer market.

    1. “Who needs identity?”
Perhaps Como need identity? They have a foreign owner, players and coach. Right?

  5. Vs rosoblu Leaving Walker on bench, and using Luka again, and even after chance Luka missed there looks this is not ACM anymore, this was worst match of Rafa been watching him so far, this time there was tactics missplayed, because Chukueze was in good shape and deserved 45 min starting opportunity with . Wasnt too dificult match at all, but 8 place and this vs low tier clubs such as Roma, Atalanta, Leverkuzen, Bologna, Napoli is not avatar of AC Milan

Luka is not as more then 99 min in 3 matches player …

We can use to sell Tiji, Fofana and probably Theo ending Kyle and probably Felix loans for gaining cash for Pelegrini from Lazio, Gatti, Abraham and Samuelle Ricci

Because new season upcomes and we are going to nowhere still

  6. I think they need to sell Pulisic, Leao and Reijnders to fund buying 12 x 20M players this season. That always works.
