Ruben Amorim is personally leading AC Milan’s mission to bring Mattia Liberali back after a year away, reports claim.
Last night, Gianluca Di Marzio spoke live on ‘Calciomercato – L’Originale’ about Liberali, revealing that Milan are pushing to bring him back. Cesc Fabregas’ Como have been very interested in the youngster for days now and have pitched their ideas regarding the 19-year-old’s development.

In recent hours, the Rossoneri have made a concrete attempt to re-sign Liberali. He departed under a cloud last year, but now there is a new director and a new coach. Amorim sees the academy graduate as an ideal player for his system.
Liberali and his agent Lucci will make a decision this week: Como has the upper hand, but beware of this last-minute move by Milan. The Rossoneri – with the 50% resale clause agreed with Catanzaro – would end up paying just €3m for the signing if it happens.
Amorim leads the charge
According to MilanNews, Amorim is doing everything he can to convince Liberali. The Portuguese coach is pushing hard to convince the Italy U19 star to return to the Rossoneri, speaking seriously and concretely about the role he would tailor for him.
The Portuguese coach sees the Catanzaro playmaker as the perfect fit for the role of attacking midfielder behind the striker, one of two players to be employed in the new Milan.
For his part, Liberali still has doubts – especially after what happened last year – about the continuity of the club’s project, which has completely changed again this summer.
It remains to be seen what decision he and his agent Alessandro Lucci will make in the coming days, but it’s absolutely certain that Amorim is doing everything he can to bring Liberali back to Milanello.
Como has just spent 60m on their best player that plays exactly in Liberali’s position. And they defintely do not lack n10 / wingers with Baturina, Rodriguez, Diao… I don’t think his playing time at Como is likely to be higher.

Liberali would actually get plenty of minutes for us in the europa league, copper Italia and some serie a games as sub and some as starter..

Puli , Nkunku , Liberali and Brahim/Zaniolo for the 2 attacking mid spots behind the striker would be nice..
Just get this done and help the kid flourish. Hopefully more young (ant Italian) talents get the chance in this new “project”. Milan and Italy need it.
One thing’s for sure, there is no point in signing
both Liberali and Zaniolo/Trincao/Diaz, Chukwueze wouldn’t suffocate Liberali’s development so much because he wouldn’t mind being a rotation player. The other thing, Chukwueze is already (t)here, he doesn’t cost a thing, the only real issue with him is that he’s much more of a winger then those 2 or 3 but that shoudn’t be a huge problem, we can deal with it.
Chuk is too much of a winger and he’s also too one dimensional. A one trick pony.
But we’d have Pulisic and Alexis for that position as well (Alexinho could play as an AM(R)C just in case), what would we need Zaniolo/Trincao/Diaz for then i.e. in that particular scenario? If they’re planning to bring back Liberali for him to be only
a substitute AMC with a relatively small & limited playing time in mind, that’s a whole other matter entirely but I really don’t think the prodigy would (have) agree(d) to that kind of treatment for the 2nd time in a row ’cause we would be very lucky indeed if we manage to convince him to return…
If Nkunku stays and is used as an AM, then I agree that if Liberali comes in we don’t need one of the others. If we’re using 3-4-2-1, we’ll need at least three true AMs (including Pulisic). If Nkunku is considered the backup ST to Ramos (because Gimenez is sold), then we would still need one of Zaniolo/Trincao, etc.
Nkunku will be the backup to Pulisic, I’m absolutely sure of that. They are going to buy one more striker but Nkunku could be (given the need) utilised as a striker from time to time as well.
Milan letting him go was a blessing in disguise cause if they didn’t, he would not have garnered such huge amount of minutes on the pitch to prove Milan wrong and they didn’t utterly discarded him by placing a buy-back clause in the first place,now the ball is in the court of Libareli to show he can withstand the San Siro pressure.
This kind deal is quite similar with what Real Madrid insert in their youngsters contracts also, so why kill Milan for doing the same; although the last Management team lacked bearing, let’s hope the new one has.
Please bring in Brahim Diaz… He is a world class player that needs a club like milan. Real madrid not doing him justice.
I also think Brahim would be an interesting reunion.
