ANSA: Milan deposit certificates as San Donato land ownership hits 660,000m²

While reports in the media have suggested a slowdown on AC Milan’s part in their mission to build a new stadium in San Donato, the facts continue to prove otherwise.

According to what is being reported by the press agency ANSA (via MilanNews), in the next few days Milan will deposit to the Council of San Donato the certificates of completion for the purchase of more land. It will mean that the overall project has a total surface area of approximately 660,000m².

At the same time, in coordination with the State Police, the process of cleaning and fencing the area on which the PII Variation project was filed by the club – which is now degraded and often occupied illegally – will begin.

The figures have not been made public but, according to documents seen by Calcio e Finanza, the costs are close to €20m. To be precise the amount is €17,237,000, therefore almost half of the €40m made available by the majority shareholder RedBird for expenses relating to the new stadium.

To summarise, Milan bought SportLifeCity – a previous company that had plans (that were approved) to build on the land in San Donato – and have thus completed the purchase of further land in the San Francesco area to enlarge the project.
