CorSport: Arsenal have not bid for Milan star as Maldini plots his own offer

By Oliver Fisher -

There has been no offer from Arsenal for Sandro Tonali and on the contrary AC Milan are willing to make him an offer of their own, a report claims.

Corriere dello Sport (via MilanNews) recalls how in the last 24 hours the rumours of Arsenal’s interest in signing Tonali bounced around sources in England, with suggestions that Milan would be willing to sell him for a figure of €55m.

However, Milan have never received such an offer and the player – who has been a fan of the Rossoneri since he was a boy – has no intention of changing teams. He wants to continue with Milan to become an icon in the future, which is why attention will soon turn to his contract.

To avoid any danger of huge offers coming in from abroad, Paolo Madini and Ricky Massara are working to renew Tonali’s contract until 2027 with a pay rise as a reward, especially after last season during which he played a fundamental role in helping to win the Scudetto.

  1. The fact that there’s an Arsenal rumor that ties us to Lokonga and them to Tonali, it’s possible that it might be a smokescreen. Maybe they are interested in one of our players (e.g. Bennacer) and we’re interested in one or more of their players… it’s just that I doubt it’s Tonali (If it was, it would be for a lot more than 55mill to sell an undisputed italian starter with a long contract 1 week before the season starts… and a Milan fan to boot).

Also call me crazy but if Leao doesn’t agree on a renewal, and a 100+ million comes, we might end up selling him and buying someone else (e.g. Noa Lang).

I’d expect that Bennacer, and maybe Leao, Krunic/Saele are the only that can be in the market for a very good price, I truly doubt it’s offers for Tomori since it would have to be 80+ mill and I don’t think Maldini would sell him either way… and definitely not before we got the 4th defender.
