Arsenal midfielder cryptic about future amid AC Milan links: “I need to think about my future”

Arsenal midfielder Lucas Torreira has provided a cryptic assessment of his future amid reports AC Milan are lining up a move.

Torreira is a player who has been linked with a move to Milan several times over the past couple of transfer windows, particularly when Marco Giampaolo took over as head coach at the start of the season, with the pair having worked together at Sampdoria.

Sam Dean of the Telegraph reported earlier on Friday that Milan are interested in signing the 24-year-old once again, who could be allowed to leave as Arsenal want to rebuild their midfield.

Dean added that sources in Italy say Fiorentina are also keen, but his understanding is that Milan is the most likely destination.

Torreira spoke to Uruguayan radio station Sport890 and said: “Today I need to think about my future very well.

“I have a contract with the club and I have to respect it, obviously if I have to leave it will be for the best. We have to be calm and wait.”

The Uruguay international isn’t believed to be part of Mikel Arteta’s project, having made 29 appearances in the Premier League this season for the Gunners but seeing his playing time drop once Arteta arrived.
