Atalanta 1-0 Milan Primavera: More ground lost in title race after defeat

By Oliver Fisher -

It was another disappointing afternoon for AC Milan’s Primavera side as they were beaten 1-0 by Lombardy neighbours Atalanta, meaning they are now six points off top spot.

In the end a goal in the 19th minute from Bonanomi was enough to settle the game. After a network of passes in Milan’s half, the Nerazzurri playmaker beat Raveyre with a nice left-footed shot from distance.

Among the starters for Ignazio Abate’s side was Marco Pellegrino again, who is ‘on loan’ from the first team to regain his fitness, while Davide Bartesaghi played despite the fact he is now a regular presence among Stefano Pioli’s squad.

Milan came close to equalising through Francesco Camarda, who challenged Pardel with a right-footed volley just before the break, but they could not break down their hosts.

In the second half the Rossoneri showed a little more courage and Hugo Cuenca caused some problems, but even the substitutes Mattia Liberali and Alexander Simmelhack could not find a way through.

The result means that Milan are now six points behind the leaders Inter who won to pad their lead at the top, while Atalanta moved on to 29 points which is two behind Abate’s men, who have won just one in five.

  1. No coincidence they have been dropping points with so many of the better players with the 1st team.
Still that’s what the primavera is there for, it is tough for Mister Abate though.
