The new course that AC Milan take will depend a lot on the choice of the next sporting director, and CEO Giorgio Furlani will get to the heart of the matter soon.
Today’s edition of Tuttosport (via MilanNews) reports that Furlani’s recent trip to America served to reaffirm his centrality in a choice as delicate as it is crucial for the future of the club. After meeting with Gerry Cardinale, the CEO began to arrange meetings with candidates.
Furlani will speak again with some of the profiles already examined by the owner and by Zlatan Ibrahimovic in London about ten days ago. He knows that he cannot afford to make a mistake, given how important the decision is.
In recent weeks there has been a lot of talk about Igli Tare, but his stock is said to be in sharp decline, also because the idea of Fabio Paratici intrigues Furlani. Between the Albanian and the Italian, the CEO is leaning towards the latter.
Another name has emerged too: Tony D’Amico, of Atalanta. A director who comes from a long apprenticeship in Verona, he is one of the main architects of the incredible results that La Dea have obtained and continue to obtain in recent years.
However, Tare’s name should not be completely eliminated, also because Furlani will be with everyone in the next few days. He should meet with foreign profiles, but the feeling that filters through is that the general predisposition is more for an Italian director who knows the league.
We don’t need that rubbish d,amico
Rubbish? Have you seen Atalanta track record?
D’Amico and Gasperini made Atalanta the team they are today and those two would fit perfectly together at Milan. Francesco Farioli should be a good option for our new coach especially if Milan sign a good sporting director.
Atalanta sold many players w/ huge profit,
but remaind me again when the last Atalanta won any trophy?
so i know why jery want D’Amico
Remind me again how many good players Milan have sold for huge profit? Exclude the obvious one – Tonali – from the list. Go ahead. Remind me.
Was it last season when Atalanta won the Europa League? Oh right, it was. So they’re the reigning champions there. I think they got a trophy for it, right?
