GdS: From Atalanta to Atalanta – Ibrahimovic could close a cycle on Sunday

Back on 22 December 2019 AC Milan suffered a 5-0 defeat against Atalanta in Bergamo, and Zlatan Ibrahimovic now wants to potentially complete a cycle of sorts.

La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanNews) reports how it was after that heavy loss that the management decided to bring Zlatan Ibrahimovic back to the club, and from day one the Swede was convinced he could bring the squad back to fighting for the Scudetto.

On Sunday against Atalanta at San Siro, Ibra and Milan will have the opportunity to get even closer to the Scudetto because a win would put them one point away, albeit waiting for Inter who would then need to beat Cagliari to keep the battle alive.

If Milan were to triumph, it would effectively be closing the circle that began two and a half years ago against the Bergamo side. The paper talks about how fundamental Ibrahimovic was in the growth of the Rossoneri both on and especially off the pitch, instilling belief and a firm mentality.

From Atalanta to Atalanta, it would be the perfect closure of the circle before deciding what his future will be. The Scudetto could be the ideal way to end an incredible career, but Ibra has not yet decided on what to do and a lot will depend on his physical condition, given the issues with his Achilles tendon and knee.
