Atalanta are the latest club to be linked with a move for Monza’s Daniel Maldini as AC Milan watch on carefully knowing they have a key clause.

Calciomercato.com are reporting that Paolo Maldini was in the stands sat next to Monza CEO Adriano Galliani at the Gewiss Stadium in Bergamo last night, and it is possible that they met with the Atalanta management.

In particular, Atalanta’s vice-president Luca Percassi was asked about the playmaker: “Daniel Maldini is a boy with enormous talent, the son of a very prestigious family. He is a boy that Atalanta must obviously follow.

“We are happy with what he is doing because he is an Italian boy, we hope he does not do well in the next match because we are playing against him, but Atalanta is certainly monitoring him.”

Monza head coach Alessandro Nesta chose to start him on the bench, like Gian Piero Gasperini did with Nicolo Zaniolo, the Atalanta playmaker who might not be bought permanently and thus could need replacing.

Daniel Maldini is flexible as Gasperini likes. He can cover many roles, from attacking midfielder to second striker as well as box-to-box player, while he is young (23) and at 1.90m tall is quite physically imposing.

The belief is that Maldini can offer the speed, ball control and vision needed complete the attack behind Retegui and Scamacca. Atalanta, meanwhile, are hoping to repeat the Charles De Ketelaere coup by taking a player Milan didn’t want, and they have a €6m offer ready.

Numerous sources are claiming Milan have the right of first refusal so they could disrupt things, while in any case they stand to pocket half of the proceeds from a potential resale.

  1. Atalanta doing all the things and business that can make fans excited , something ac milan missing long time ago .. now we just can see milan play with player we dont like and from somewhere else without enough italian player in starting eleven . Miss the old days when milan is milan

    1. put this jeri in Berlusconi era & they treat Cesare just like they did to Paolo, we’ll end-up w/ Teribo West/ Ayala as our legendary CB while witnessing GOAT defender play for Madrid/ MU

  2. I don’t think he want come to milan again. His father has been kick out by cardinale, he also thrown out as useless free player. Maldini legacy is over.

It is time for ibrahimovic legacy. Prince maxim is coming
