Atletico Madrid’s sporting director Andrea Berta has spoken with the entourage of AC Milan head coach Stefano Pioli, according to a report.
Pioli arrived at Milan back in 2019 to take over from Marco Giampaolo and he inherited a squad that needed a lot of work technically and psychologically, and the journey under his tenure so far has been nothing short of positive.
He has transformed the club from a rudderless ship into being a team with a clear playing style that is competing for the title again and returned to the Champions League, with the help of figures like Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Simon Kjaer among others.
According to what is being reported by Twitter account AtletiFrancia, Andrea Berta – who is the sporting director of the LaLiga champions – spoke last night via phone with the agents of Pioli.
More information on the conversation is set to follow, but there is growing uncertainty surrounding Diego Simeone’s position as their head coach given that they are currently outside the top four spots in the league.

Wow! Pioli is a man in demand but I think it’d be stupid to get rid of Simeone. For me, he’s their greatest ever manager and I think the players need to get their acts together. I remember Felix and his totally unwarranted interview a few days ago. Maybe it’s not my decision to make but my opinion is that it’d be stupid to let go of Simeone unless maybe they’re parsimonious like you know who 😉

How do you want him to be demanding with the players the Milan can afford. My opinion of pioli’s that 100% did à very very very great job. Do you guys even know the management’s initial plan is just for top four finish and make enough money to balance the club and settle ffp. But pioli has done what the management themselves are not expecting at all

Switch Pioli for Simeone? You must be drunk mate. Diego is a trash manager. We want AC Milan to play attacking football rather than parking a bus and waiting for good weather. Pioli can work with limited resources and players. Simeone uses defensive position even with Suarez, Griezmann, Felix, and de Paul in his possession. He uses Correa and others as full-backs. Come on.

Thank goodness we renewed his contract last year till 2023. Also not sure which way the option of 1 year extension goes?
