AC Milan’s 19-year wait for the Coppa Italia will continue as they were dumping out of the competition by city rivals Inter last night.
After a 0-0 first leg draw in the derby semi-final, Stefano Pioli’s team were beaten 3-0 in the return fixture meaning that the Nerazzurri will face either Juventus or Fiorentina in the Rome final.
As Corriere della Sera (via MilanNews) write this morning, the Rossoneri once again showed their difficulties in scoring goals because they created many clear scoring chances – probably more than the 2-1 derby win in February – but they lacked the killer instinct to turn those into goals.
Last night a defence that had kept seven clean sheets in a row also collapsed without extenuating circumstances so it was an evening to be forgotten for Milan who can, however, complain about a goal canceled by the referee Mariani on Bennacer for an apparently offside by Kalulu that could have reopened the contest.
Milan must ensure his players react immediately because they are still fighting for the title, and their next game is far from easy as they travel to the Stadio Olimpico in Rome to face Lazio, a match that they cannot possibly go wrong in.
Kalulu and Tomori were bound for a bad game. They had so many good ones recently.
hope the hell Pioli thinks outside the box rather thank doing the same crap and expecting a different result
