Back AC Milan to triumph In the Europa League but not Serie A title chase

By Oliver Fisher -

While their recent 3-0 away win at Empoli was something of a comfortable exercise for Stefano Pioli’s AC Milan side and a three-point haul that keeps them firmly clear of the chasing back behind them, their third-place status in Serie A does not look like getting any better any time soon.

And with that reality fast dawning upon the San Siro side, with arch-rivals Inter and Juventus running away with things at the summit of the table, the Rossoneri may well now do well to set their sights on European glory.

Having been bumped out of the UEFA Champions League group of death, with PSG and Borussia Dortmund getting through to the last 16, Milan are now one of the favourites to win the UEFA Europa League, and it’s a tournament that it’s well worth backing the Italian giants to triumph in.

If you are looking to place a bet, then these are the best football betting sites to consider for your wager. Selecting the right betting provider is key to maximising any potential pay-off, and given the odds currently available on Milan to lift UEFA’s secondary club tournament, a successful bet could end up proving very profitable.

Since winning Serie A in 2021-22, Pioli’s side have struggled to reach those heady heights again. Last season, they did well to reach the semi-finals of the Champions League, only to lose to local rivals Inter, and they could only muster a fourth-place finish in the domestic title race.

Another season of transition appears to be on the menu, but it would be fair to say that some of the summer acquisitions have proven fairly effective thus far, with the likes of Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Christian Pulisic, both coming in from Chelsea, easing into life in Italy fairly well.

Pioli continues to rely heavily on veteran forward Olivier Giroud, and Portuguese attacker Rafael Leao hasn’t got close to replicating the form of last term, so a top-four finish and a nice piece of continental silverware could, in many ways, be considered a successful campaign.

The UEFA Europa League contains a fair few impressive teams, with Liverpool currently the big favourite to succeed. Next in the betting are in-form Bundesliga side Bayer Leverkusen, who remarkably are yet to taste defeat under new boss Xabi Alonso.

Then, at a healthy 11/1, Milan can be backed to win the tournament, and that is a very decent bet to place for fans of the Italian side.

First, they must overcome Rennes in the Europa League play-off round, which come in February, and we don’t imagine that would prove a big problem for an Milan squad that has a nice balance of youth and experience, and Pioli has a big enough squad to mount a strong campaign in Europe without it negatively affecting their efforts in Serie A.
