Bakayoko hints leaving Milan and Chelsea was not his choice; discusses ‘special’ Gattuso

Tiemoue Bakayoko has once again spoken about his time with AC Milan and his relationship under head coach Gennaro Gattuso.

The Frenchman joined spent last season on loan with the Rossoneri from parent club Chelsea and became a fan favourite after a tough start. Despite this, the club did not exercise their option to buy and he was subsequently loaned back to Monaco last summer.

Bakayoko has never hidden his affinity for Milan and his time at San Siro, and he made shock admission earlier in the year that he prefers Milan to parent club Chelsea during a video interview.

Now he has spoken to to RMC Sport, and Bakayoko hinted that it was not his decision not to remain with Milan or to leave Chelsea.

“Staying at Milan or Chelsea ? I’m not the only one who decides. I had a feeling they weren’t counting on me,” he said.

“Gattuso? We had a not-so-negative relationship. If he’s a weird coach? It’s special. He has so much character, it was interesting to be with him.”
