After a number of substitute appearances and having come back from an injury problem, the time has come for Tiemoué Bakayoko’s first start since his return to Milan.
Calciomercato.com reports that Stefano Pioli should field him from the first minute against Sassuolo this afternoon as the head coach tried it in Saturday’s training session and was happy with the signs that the Frenchman offered. Bakayoko for his part wants to take advantage of the chance he will be given, and prove that the management were right to bring him back.
Pioli has an eye on the Africa Cup of Nations which will run from 9 January until 6 February, a period in which the Rossoneri will lose Bennacer but above all Franck Kessie, and that is why Bakayoko is determined to convince everyone that he can hold down a role.
He came off the bench and put in a very encouraging performance at the Wanda Metropolitano against Diego Simeone’s Atletico Madrid. Now, he wants to conquer Milan again and convince Pioli that he can rely on him.
