Mediaset: €4m summer signing could leave Milan in January with management unconvinced

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan are considering what to do with summer signing Fodé Ballo-Tourè as he has not impressed since his arrival, according to a report.

Nobody knew too much about Ballo-Toure after his summer signing from the Ligue 1 side but he has so far racked up nine appearances and – bar a good performance against Bologna – he has certainly not convinced. He gave away a penalty in the draw against Inter at the weekend in what was a latest disappointing display, one that ended after 45 minutes as he was taken off.

SportMediaset (via MilanNews) are reporting that Milan bought the Senegal international from Monaco in the summer for €4m, but the management and coaching staff have seen that he is struggling a lot at the start of the season and for this reason it is not excluded that the club could let him leave on loan in January.

Obviously, in the event that he were to leave the club then Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara would then have to return to the market to sign another left-back, but it is not specified if this would be a loan deal for cover or a more permanent solution.

  1. Naturally every player needs some time, let alone those of lesser skills/ qualities/ market value.
Give him some time and space to settle.
Half year is not enough, unless the coach/ management team see things we can’t; on the training ground and on a daily basis.

  2. The very fact this has even been considered by the writers is ridiculous. He needs time to adapt – he had good games (especially vs Bologna) after settling in the group and then he got injured. So he had to restart.

    Give people time..

  3. Doubtful they’d sell him. They would then have to find a replacement and there are bigger holes to fill, like backup for Brahim and a RW that produces goals and assists. Ballo-Toure will stay until the summer, at least. What the club need to focus on is improving Theo’s discipline, as he picks up needless yellows all the time. Maldini should show him a thing or two about playing in the defensive phase.

  4. This site has a habit of flying stupid kites and trash talking anyone they don’t like. So, in half a season this site are claiming they got gist from Maldini and management that Ballo-Toure is leaving. Pure garbage news.

  5. He has some big shoues to fill being Theo’s backup and admitably he is not doing good enough job so far. But for 4M transfer i’d say that’s still pretty decent bang for the buck.

  6. What I like about him is his speed. He is kinda extremely fast guy. Probably faster than Leao.
Could be helpful if he gets some practice and adapts as well. Even Theo, Kessie, Leao and others struggled at the beginning. Give him some time or send for dry loan to get some practice. 4 million is not a big risk.

  7. I agree he needs time to adapt that said he’s proven Milan should at least look at other options for a back up. Maybe look for a player to compete with him for the backup position. Competition breads success and he could benefit in the long run.

  8. He need games in some other clubs in seria A. Genoa, Bologna,Venecia… Something like that… He must learn italian game and language..

  9. If Milan sends this guy away they will regret after just a season elsewhere. He has all the potentials but needs time to grow. See Leao, even great Maldini even struggled sometimes in his days. He will find the rhythm but patience is the key. Sometimes we have to recognise discipline and commitment as well. Forza Milan.
