Romano: Barcelona want to arm defender with €1bn clause amid Milan links

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan have been dealt a blow in their pursuit of Barcelona defender Alejandro Balde as they are in talks over a renewal, it is claimed.

Calcioemrcato.com reported last week that Milan are keen on signing Balde having been close to landing him two years ago, though things broke down in the final phase of the negotiations back then.

The 19-year-old left-back has already got 3 assists in 12 appearances in LaLiga this season for Barcelona, demonstrating his immense potential, while in recent weeks Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara have re-established talks with Balde’s agent, Jorge Mendes.

However, according to Fabrizio Romano’s daily column for CaughtOffside, Barcelona’s new proposal to Balde for a new contract will be a five-year deal with an increased salary.

A release clause will be discussed too which will potentially be worth €1billion, therefore the same as Gavi, Pedri, Jules Kounde, Ferran Torres and other players in the squad.

  1. Those clauses are totally meaningless as no club on this planet (nor other) would pay such figures for any of them.

If Milan were to get Leao’s signature on the paper, they should put a 100bn€ clause on it just to piss off Barca. 😀
