MN: Bennacer back to his battling best – the details of his imminent extension

By Oliver Fisher -

Ismael Bennacer is showing himself to be back near his top form once again as he was key in the derby win over Inter and during Sunday’s victory over Sampdoria too.

MilanNews writes how the game against Samp could have been a difficult one physically for the diminutive midfield against a compact and narrow Marco Giampaolo side, but in the 75 minutes he played the Algerian showed himself to be dominant in the centre of the park.

Once again the former Empoli man looked composed alongside Sandro Tonali and he also looks determined to battle hard and prove a point after disappointment with Algeria at the African Cup of Nations as they did not even get past the group stages.

He has 28 appearances this season across all competitions proving he is more reliable than the first two seasons from a physical point of view, and the Milan management are willing to bet on him for the seasons to come.

Bennacer is in fact close to finding an agreement with Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara to renew his contract with Milan, on the basis of around €3m net per year and an extension running until 2026.
