AC Milan midfielder Ismael Bennacer has insisted that he is happy to play wherever Stefano Pioli plays him, and also talked through the goal that he scored against Lazio.
Milan got a huge three points at San Siro this afternoon as they scored twice in the first half against their top four rivals to move back into the Champions League placed for the time being ahead of Roma-Inter later this evening.
The first goal came from a high press as Ismael Bennacer won the ball back from Marcos Antonio then finished after Olivier Giroud laid it into his path, then the second goal was all Theo Hernandez as he ran with it from deep inside his own half and finished via a deflected shot.
Bennacer spoke to DAZN after the game to reflect on what was a positive performance and a massive three points, with his comments relayed by MilanNews.
Those were three very important points…
“It was a very important match for us today, we started it well. We scored, we didn’t concede… We managed it well from start to finish. There are still other games to go, now we have to recover and do things right.”
The goal came after the high press…
“We worked on the team, we knew they play a lot out from the back. I felt good about the play, I anticipated it well, then Giroud laid the ball off well and I shot well.”
You played in a more advanced role again…
“A role where the coach puts me, I can play anywhere to help the team. If I can help like this, it’s good for everyone.”
How is Leao?
“We didn’t talk about Rafa, we were focused on the match. I hope it’s nothing serious, I hope he’s here for the Champions League because he’s a very important player.”
