MN: Hopes of seeing Bennacer against Juventus rise – he was at Milanello on Friday

By Oliver Fisher -

The hopes that AC Milan will have Ismael Bennacer for Sunday’s game against Juventus at San Siro have increased as the midfielder is already back at Milanello.

Bennacer’s Algeria needed to win against Franck Kessie’s Ivory Coast to avoid a sensational elimination in the group stages, having won the last edition of the tournament back in 2019. They drew 0-0 against Sierra Leone and then lost against Equatorial Guinea in the first two games, but then they were beaten 3-1 yesterday and therefore went home early.

The protocol regarding Covid means that players returning from elite sporting events do not need 10 days of quarantine as happens for those who normally come from countries classified in the E band by the Italian government.

According to MilanNews, Bennacer returned to Milano a few hours after being eliminated from the African Cup of Nations and was at Milanello this afternoon. The former Empoli man did a relaxing workout and therefore could make the bench for the game against the Bianconeri, which is a big boost for Pioli.

  1. Reminds me of Thomas Partey. Ghana gets eliminated, he flies off to England immediately as, “an important player” to Arteta’s Arsenal… Guy tries but in the end he gets a red card.
I’m hoping this is funny but if I’m being honest it didn’t make me laugh.
