MN: Bennacer to miss Genoa game with labyrinthitis – what the infection is

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan will be without midfielder Ismael Bennacer for tonight’s game against Genoa as he is struggling with an unusual condition, a report claims.

This morning Stefano Pioli  announced the squad list for the game at the Marassi against Andriy Shevchenko’s side and Bennacer is not present. According to what MilanNews are reporting, the Algerian will not be available as he is struggling with labyrinthitis.

Most people may not have heard of labyrinthitis, but the NHS describes it as an inner ear infection that affects someone’s balance. It can cause dizziness or vertigo, which results in the person feeling feeling unsteady and off balance making it difficult to stay upright or walk in a straight line.

There are other effects such as feeling or being sick, hearing loss
and ringing in the ears (tinnitus). They claim that it can take a few weeks to get better, so we await further information.

  1. Ive known several people who has had inner ear infections affecting their balance for months and in one case for years looking like they were drunk so better not be the same as that would pretty much bring a career to a complete standstill.

  2. I bet he had it already during the Sassuolo match as his passes were mostly directed towards the Sassuolo players instead of own ones.
