Ismael Bennacer has stated that he wants to give ‘even more’ for the AC Milan fans after they gave him a brilliant reception upon his return to the field.
Bennacer spent the last six months out after he suffered serious knee injury during the first leg of the Champions League semi-final against Inter, which required surgery given the complex nature of the cartilage problem.
The Algerian had been back training with the squad for over a couple of weeks and it was decided that he had reached sufficient fitness level to take a spot on the bench for the game against Frosinone tonight.
With the team comfortably winning, he played a segment at the end of the game and when he came onto the field he received a brilliant reception from the Rossoneri fans.
Bennacer spoke to Milan TV briefly after the game and spoke about his recovery path and making his return tonight, with his comments relayed by MilanNews.
“It was a tough period, but it passed quickly because I was always attached to the team. I worked so hard for this day and today we start again,” he said.
“I don’t have the words to describe my entrance with the crowd on their feet. I was truly very, very happy and very, very proud. I want to give even more for the fans, because they are always here at our side.”
