The RB Leipzig defender’s contract was set to expire in 2021 and and it was reported that Milan could get him at a good price, though Waldeckische Landeszeitung – among other sources – credited Bayern Munich, Manchester United, Chelsea and Arsenal with interest too.
According to Bild (via Sport.de), the ink is already dry and Upamecano has penned a new deal at RB Leipzig. The 21-year-old is now bound to the Saxony club until 2023 instead of until 2021.
Interestingly, Leipzig have agreed to put a release clause into the deal of €50million euros – but it will not become active until next summer at the earliest.
