Blow for Milan as report claims Liverpool have 65% chance of winning race for €50m man

AC Milan have suffered a blow in their pursuit of RB Leipzig star Timo Werner by German news outlet Bild, with Liverpool in pole.

Milan have been linked with a move for Werner by a number of different outlets over the past week amid widespread reports suggesting Ralf Rangnick – a coach the striker is considered a pupil of – will begin a new adventure with the Rossoneri this summer.

Il Corriere dello Sport reported earlier on Sunday that the German international is one of three players Rangnick wants to bring from Leipzig to Milan as part of a €130m raid, with Werner taking up €50m of that.

However, in Germany they think that Milan have virtually no chance. BILD have done a ‘transfer check’ on in which they have assessed the possibility of him joining the various clubs linked with Werner, who has 27 goals in 36 games in all competitions so far this season.

The outlet claims it is Liverpool who have a 65% chance of signing the 24-year-old due to Jurgen Klopp’s several personal phone calls to try and convince him.

The Premier League side are ahead of Bayern Munich who are given a 15% chance, while Real Madrid have 10% and Chelsea have 5% – with Milan not even mentioned.
