Bologna CEO offers update on Italiano’s future with Milan left helpless

AC Milan will not hire Vincenzo Italiano this summer, it seems, with the Italian likely to stay with his current club, Bologna.

The past few months have been filled with rumours about different managers, and in recent weeks, the name of Italiano has become more common. From what was an outside idea to seemingly now the first choice. However, there is seemingly little to no chance of it happening.

Last week, the head coach held talks with Bologna over his future, but there were whispers that he was ‘stalling’ and waiting for Milan. Now, though, this seems like wishful thinking. In fact, it only seems like a matter of time before an extension with the Rossoblu arrives.

Daniele Longo reported yesterday that the coach was in the final stages of an extension, so it seems like the Rossoneri’s dreams are all but dead. That is, of course, if they were not already.

Speaking today to ANSA, the club’s CEO, Claudio Fenucci, spoke about the deal, as relayed by Milan News.

“The will, both ours and the coach’s, is to continue together. There is a contract in place, and there are all the conditions to extend the contract, because we want to build a longer relationship, and Italiano has always said he is enthusiastic about this adventure in Bologna.

“There are things to sort out, but we hope to get to the checkers in a reasonable time. The will is to do well, we must not extinguish the enthusiasm of the fans, and the goal is to continue like this, with the beautiful game, the passion.

“We want to build a competitive team by keeping the best players in the squad, but on the market, you never know. In case of sales, every resource will be reinvested.”

  1. Oh no, Italiano clearly best manager in the league, however will Milan recover? Next season goal is 9th afterall

  2. I’m not so intrigued with this Italiano link though. We can as well go for De Zerbi. Only that he doesn’t have a good defensive record.

  3. Good news in my opinion… We can now go for Motta, the guy already knows what and what not to do in big clubs

  4. All about Italiano…just move on.

Better Ranieri than Italiano. Or try De Zerbi, he have done good job, better than Italiano did.

No offense, Italiano is good, but he is not for Milan.
