Bologna star pours cold water on Milan links: “Now I think about my future only here”

By Oliver Fisher -

Bologna defender Aaron Hickey has dealt a blow to AC Milan’s chances of signing him this summer by stressing his commitment to his current club.

We recently reported via our colleagues at SempreMilan.it that Milan are already hard at work looking for a replacement for Fode Ballo-Toure and there are already three names on the list, with Hickey being one of them.

The Scotland international is a young talent that would represent a valid alternative to Theo Hernandez on the left lank. Hickey is in his second year in Serie A but is two years younger than the other options mentioned in that article, and he has already scored 5 goals this season showing himself to be a gamble that paid off for Bologna.

Hickey addressed a question regarding his future – with his quotes relayed by Football Scotland – and made it clear that for the time being he is only focused on Bologna, certainly offering no signs that a summer move might be on the cards.

“My goal this season was to play more games than last season. I achieved that aim and that’s something I am very happy about. The important thing is to keep my head down and keep improving with a coaching staff that are helping me a lot,” he said.

“Now I think about my future only here in Bologna. The way we play helps me a lot compared to what I was used to in Scotland. In terms of my progress, I have to keep improving to gain experience and help the team. But personally, I think I still need to improve both in the attacking and defensive parts of my game.”
