Vincenzo Italiano is on AC Milan’s list of potential candidates to become the next head coach, according to a report.
The Bologna edition of La Repubblica (via MilanNews) writes that after the incredible journey to the Champions League places last season, Italiano’s Bologna are proving to be one of the most solid teams in Serie A.
Compared to a year ago, the team has just one point less in the standings despite having fought on three fronts (including the Coppa Italia, which they are still in) and losing two crucial players like Joshua Zirkzee and Riccardo Calafiori.
At the beginning of the season the target might not have been as high as what the Rossoblu are actually achieving. Italiano’s work is not going unnoticed, but he seems to be perfectly in symbiosis with the city and with the management, who are plotting a contract renewal.
In the summer Italiano signed an agreement until 2026 at €2.1m net per year, leaving Fiorentina, and Bologna would like to extend it for another year. The goal of the directors and CEO (Sartori, Di Vaio and Fenucci) is to try to act in advance given.
Why is that? Mainly because Italiano will inevitably end up in the sights of several big clubs looking for a new manager, and they mention Milan above all if they were to say goodbye to Sergio Conceicao.
Italiano has shown he has a pretty good plan A….but he has no plan B.
Please hire Motta if he gets the sack at juve.
He can be a great coach one day
I have a feeling Juve will scrape into 4th and beat us to Italiano. Great manager.
If Milan want a top Italian manager then they should go for Francesco Farioli over Italiano.
A coach with interesting attacking football. I don’t know if he is material for the title, but I would take him before all other Italian coaches. Conte is in Napoli and will stay there, and if he leaves, he would also leave Milan. So, unreliable. Allegri is a bad idea for Milan. De Zerbi has a problem to finish the season. It starts furiously, and then in the spring there are problems.
Milan needs a coach who knows how to play in the Italian league, but also in the Champions League. Milan is not a team only for the Italian league. Milan is not a provincial club.
Repubblica is one of the least credible outlets out there. Literally click bait. Not an ounce of journalism.
Milan has a complicated locker room with many big personalities. Italiano should stick to smaller clubs if he’s smart. We need a solid rebuilder, not another experiment.

De Zerbi or Gasperini enough of mediocre manager
I think De zerbi is the best one that will fit well, and his policy is what the management can easily afford, with an interesting style of play! 🙏
