While Sergio Conceicao remains in charge at AC Milan for now his fate seems sealed, and a new potential replacement has emerged.
According to Tuttosport (via MilanNews), if the team hadn’t had a reaction of pride in the second half against Lazio on Sunday night, the Portuguese would probably no longer be in his place today, implying he would have been sacked.
With 13 games to go until the end of the season (11 in the league plus the Coppa Italia semi-finals), the idea of the leadership is to continue with Conceicao and get to May in a dignified manner, with qualification for the next Europa League and perhaps another trophy.
Despite this, not even the achievement of these two objectives can change Milan’s mind. With the arrival of a new sporting director, theywill identify the coach who will take Conceiçao’s place for the 2025-26 season.
Given the experience with two Portuguese coaches in Paulo Fonseca and the current one, the Rossoneri are expected to lean towards an Italian coach, one with experience in Serie A and who can avoid a repetition of situations like those experienced this season.
The dreams are Carlo Ancelotti and Antonio Conte, but the ideas also include the names of Massimiliano Allegri, Roberto De Zerbi, Gian Piero Gasperini and Maurizio Sarri. In short, quite a wide-ranging list.
A seventh name must be added: Vincenzo Italiano. Only a week ago, his Bologna side beat Milan in a very important clash for the top four spots and – after his time with Fiorentina – Italiano is now consecrating himself with the Rossoblu.
Granted, a good foundation was left by Thiago Motta, but Bologna this season have shown organised and attacking football balanced with defensive attention, a necessary mix to land on the bench of a big team. Milan are studying him, along with the other options.
Very similar to Pioli in terms of playing style.
He is probably ready for a big team, what he is doing in Bologna is impressive considering that Calafiori and Zirkzee has been replaced by Dallinga and Casale. I also think the team could fit his playing style with a few adjustements, while with a coach like Fabregas we would need 5-6 new players at least.
Also very similar to Pioli in terms of hairstyle.
😂😂😂
Yes maybe let’s go shopping for our next coach in Portugal… Another bald Italian sounds good to me, and let’s get kits with red and black stripes on them again while we’re at it…
*let’s NOT go shopping
For this project to gain any legitimacy, the SD needs to come in and put the whole structure in place in some sort of a functional way.
1. Define project.
2. Pick coach for the project.
3. With the coach, sort out the market.
Otherwise everyone is just throwing sh!t on the wall to see what sticks.
I will say YES to him.. if now anything i love the way Bologna mark and fight for ball, they never left any space for Milan players to think of what to do with the ball before they marked them down.
They all follow and pay for the coach. but i cant say that with the types of mentality of players at Milan presently.
He’s my top pick followed by De Zerbi and Sarri.
Italiano in package with Sartori as our SD would be perfect.
Sartori renewed with Bologna. Would have been a good pick. D’Amico would have been stellar. Tare isn’t a bad shout so long as he doesn’t flood Milan with Eastern Europeans.
Every coach who gets a point or wins against us gets dragged into the “next coach” rumors. 🙂
I suggested they go for him last season. Also, terrible article which shows how little attention these guys pay to Serie A. Italiano got Fiorentina to consecutive Conference League finals, which is a major achievement given their squad, and also a Coppa Italia final.
Soon we would get a news about Klopp being monitored, mark my words lmao
At least he is an Italian, that’s small plus
In an ideal world, he brings Calabria back with him so we can bin off Emerson lol. Also Orsolini to challenge pulisic on the right. Crazy to say out loud, but it would be hiring a promising Italian manager who’s already above us in the table and playing better football… wild times to say this about Bologna. Him, de zerbi, or Gasperini woupd be excellent signings
He is the right candidate with the right profile.
Italiano has done a good job at Fiorentina and Bologna, and ready to coach bigger club like Milan.
Please sign him. He will be doing a great job
