Milan Futuro were very close to pulling off an impressive win over high-flying Arezzo yesterday, and though they ended up drawing Daniele Bonera was happy.
The Futuro were forced to settle for a share of the spoils against fifth-placed Arezzo as they twice surrendered a lead to draw 2-2 on Sunday afternoon.
Bonera was interviewed by Milan TV straight after the full-time whistle and he gave his thoughts on the game, which were relayed by MilanPress.
“I regret the result, but I liked the performance. As long as we held up, even physically, we fought on equal terms. We were ahead, shame about the goal, which I didn’t see again, from a set piece. I have to compliment the team for their approach and for the continuity of the performance in the match,” he said.
“Paloschi deserves this recognition, he is a serious and helpful guy who always has a smile on his face. I must say that I like him, he is attentive and is a positive note for the youth sector, as Camarda’s presence in the first team was positive. The journey continues.”
Among the highlights was an amazing solo goal from Alex Jimenez, who picked up possession in his own half and ran it to the edge of the box, scoring in a Theo Hernandez-esque way.
“I can say that Jimenez, for better or for worse, shifts the balance. I love him, but there has to be a mental step. I didn’t like the final push, I told him right away at the end of the game,” Bonera added.
“He scored a great goal and had a great performance, he could have ruined his performance in an even more significant way. I pulled his ears but it’s part of my job.
“I am satisfied because creating these situations to score against Arezzo is not easy, an important team and one of the top teams in the group that will certainly fight for important objectives. We must continue on this path.”
