Daniele Bonera is set to be sacked from his role as the AC Milan Futuro head coach, and the club already have his replacement lined up.

Rumours about Bonera’s future have been flowing for quite a while now, especially with results not improving through the season. Considering what is at risk for the Milan Futuro too, it is a change that needed to be taken.

Before this weekend’s game, it had been suggested that the now-former head coach would probably be seeing out his final game, with replacements being rapidly evaluated.

Now, this much has come true with Bonera’s time as the head coach seemingly coming to a close earlier today, and his replacement is imminent, with multiple sources now reporting that the appointment is close.

Milan News states that Massimo Oddo has signed a contract already, and he has ‘ten games to find salvation’. Furthermore, ‘only the official announcement is missing’, so it should be announced soon.

Matteo Moretto also confirmed the news on his X with a simple statement, “Massimo Oddo is coming, and an agreement is being finalized.”

The Bonera experiment is done, and with the Futuro needing a big boost, it will be hoped that Oddo can provide it.

  1. Bonera should never have been hired to begin with but considering that he was in fact hired then he should at the very minimum have been sacked in October. An absolute disgrace that Abate wasn’t promoted to the Futuro.

      1. That is definitely not what has come from the rumor mill. In fact it seems like Ibra had a row with him because he didn’t use his kid at all in the Primavera last season so he was sacked. Whether that is correct or not might be a different matter but that is all that has come through the media since he left but if you have some proof of what you are saying then please point me towards to the specific article where Abate says he refused a job offer for the Futuro otherwise its just as vague as the rumors in regard of Abate being sacked.

His contract expired and so he either does not want to renew (most likely for Milan Futaro) or he was not offered a renewal. So, unlikely he was sacked since, technically, there is no contract to begin with.

Regardless if he was offered a renewal with Futaro, he himself had indicated he wants to try coaching a senior team (his words in the article linked above). I was thinking it would at least be a Serie B team, and not Ternana in Serie C.

          1. Sorry for the late reply but went out and got hammered.
You are absolutely correct in that he wasn’t sacked and just wasnt renewed but didnt come back and corrected myself but thanks for posting the link.
Yeah i can see that but he is even coaching a team in the exact same league as Milan but sure maybe the ternana offer was just one he couldnt let slide him by.

  2. More lives than a cat!!!
Still baffles me how long he’s lasted considering what’s at stake.
I assume Abate did not fit the “Ibrahimovic” model…….
