Bonera honest after Rimini defeat: “We have to work harder, in silence” – video

Daniele Bonera has admitted that the time has come for his side to start turning positive performances into results after Milan Futuro lost again last night.

Milan Futuro’s difficult start to the league season continued last night as they were narrowly beaten 1-0 away from home by Rimini at the Stadio Romeo Neri. The Rossoneri played well and should have taken something, but their woes in front of goal continued.

The loss means that Milan Futuro sit in 19th place – second-bottom of the table – after five games with two draws and three defeats, and they are already two points from safety so that first win needs to come sooner rather than later. Bonera spoke to MilanTV after the game.

“We certainly had a great first half, we also had some good situations, unfortunately in the last 25-30 meters we were not very precise. We had a goal disallowed for offside, but beyond that I think we have to work harder, in silence, because now we have to keep quiet and work,” he said.

“It’s five league games, we’ve collected two points and many compliments he continued. So now we either start collecting points too, because we don’t give ourselves many compliments.

“I think this is a bit like Serie C, we have to improve in many aspects, but tonight in the first half we created something, but we weren’t able to score, as happened in previous games, and we allowed the goal and little more.

“One goal scored and it was a penalty? It’s true, we definitely need to improve in the offensive phase, we need to try to find some developments and be a little more precise, less hasty and make the right choices.

“As I said, starting tomorrow we’ll work, in silence, and prepare for Thursday’s match, which will be just as difficult, like all the matches in this league.”

  1. It wass expected that we probably could get a bit of a rough start but I nevertheless believe it was a huge mistake in not keeping Abate who could have continued the work he had already done with the young lads.

  2. That is to show that all the frenzy here about getting the youngsters like Camarda, Liberali, Vos, and Zeroli to play for the first team, are exaggerated and premature. They are struggling against Serie C teams; they would struggle more against Serie A teams. They need time to develop including in their muscle mass. They are very young; 17-18-19, not even U23 like Milan Futuro is nominally classified as. They are not ready for Serie A and their development must be allowed to happen naturally and without rushing them.

    1. I think they all have great potential, but the question we should be asking is whether Abate is the right person in developing players in the U23 team. Juve has their own that’s doing better.

  3. Having not seen the games it is hard to say but I thought that Abate should have been the manager. He has more experience than Bonera and most of these kids played for him. Anyway keep fighting Futuro!!!!!

  4. As others have said, Abate should have been selected. If we don’t see a change soon, I do hope Bonera is let go from the position. The well being of this team does matter.

It was expected as it’s an entirely brand new team, but they should be doing better. Communication and cohesion is obviously not there yet.
