CM: Brahim Diaz’s future now complicated as Adli impresses and a signing is close

By Oliver Fisher -

The future of Brahim Diaz is once again in doubt as he risks finding his playing time decrease this season, a report claims.

Calciomercato.com report how this will be the second year of a two-year loan from Real Madrid and the Rossoneri will have the opportunity to buy him permanently from Real Madrid for €22m, but up until now the playmaker has not yet fully demonstrated his worth.

Last season he got off to a great start but struggled throughout the current calendar year to be decisive both in terms of goals and assists, which led Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara to consider the hypothesis of terminating his loan early, but that has now faded.

Nonetheless, Yacine Adli is very much here to provide competition and he confirmed the excellent impressions shown in the first training sessions with a great start against Wolfsberger last night in Austria. He got a goal, an assist and looked up to speed.

The competition might not end there for Brahim, because in addition to Adli there is the hope of adding another creative player like Charles De Ketelaere. The white smoke is getting closer and closer after a new offer and his arrival would make everyone happy, except maybe Brahim Diaz.

  1. He was unchallenged last season as trequartista yet still we ended the season with Kessie or Krunic playing that role. If this deal with de keatlere finally happen then he needs to leave. His services are no longer required.

  2. Wherever he ends up, I just hope that he gets taught by someone about how he should move before receiving and after giving a pass. That’s his biggest weakness to me, even more than his physical strength. Yet definitely it’s something he can learn. He has the needed quality and just needs a right guidance.

  3. Well last year had good start, but god corona, and recovered very hard and long… Well Adli is good but u cant judge him by 1 good game

  4. His characteristics are suited for a winger, ie isolated one v one he has speed and dribbling skill. Your “football intelligence” needs to be higher at no.10 which is one area he’s a bit weak.

@Ted agreed, if he could develop as a winger, given he’s 2-footed he could be useful squad rotation player.

  5. Now we can have either Adli or CDK at ACM. And I think both can play to the right also. This means two of the biggest weaknesses of last years team hopefully has been sorted. We still need to see how they perform of course. But from what I’ve seen and heard tjis will be a big upgrade. It can’t get worse than the Saladmaker, Diaz and Messias.

  6. Diaz has had 2 year’s to make that CAM spot his own and has failed to do so. I mean he ended last season behind Kessie (who was leaving) and Krunic (let that sink in).

He will be 3rd option at AM this season, so Coppa Italia might be his best options to preform .

Should send him back to Madrid.

  7. Great kid with bags of potential but he’s not a No.10 and both the coach and management knew that before they conducted their experiment. Diaz is a winger; he was bought by two clubs who predominantly uses 4-3-3 formations, so that alone should’ve been a clue since a 4-3-3 formation doesn’t require a trequartista. As a matter of fact, the idea of a traditional playmaker is outdated in modern football, as seen by the reluctance of big clubs to sign players like Dybala, James and Coutinho, even if they were free. Pioli has briefly tried him out on the right side recently in a preseason match, so hopefully we’ll see more of that in the new season ahead because Milan can benefit from players being used in their more familiar and effective roles. If we can get him to make a few good contributions this upcoming season on our way to winning the league and the champions league, then he should be bought outright from Real Madrid.
