CorSport: Brahim Diaz reaches do-or-die time as Milan work on replacement

By Oliver Fisher -

Brahim Diaz is ready to return to the starting line-up for AC Milan tonight given the absence of Ismael Bennacer and the subsequent shift of Franck Kessie back to the double pivot.

Il Corriere dello Sport (via SempreMilan.it) writes how for the Spaniard it could be the last real chance to seal his future at Milan. Behind him in the hierarchy is Rade Krunic, a player that Pioli holds in high esteem and who is eager to demonstrate what he can do in a more advanced role.

Brahim Diaz must therefore demonstrate that he can be consistent in performance levels and that he is worthy of the No.10 shirt inherited from Hakan Calhanoglu, especially given the doubts about his future beyond the end of the season.

Milan are in the meantime working on signing Marco Asensio from Real Madrid to reinforce the attacking options, and it cannot be ruled out that Brahim Diaz goes back in the direction of the Spanish capital.

  1. Asensio would be more of a replacement of Messias/Salemaekers than a Díaz replacement. I think Pioli should shift to a 4-3-3 next season and reinforce the team accordingly to get rid of the number 10 headache, not to mention our current formation is quite honestly outdated.

  2. Worst player to ever wear Milans #10 jersey (including Honda).
Send him back no matter what.
He played a handful of good games last year and a handful of good games this year. That’s it, that’s who he is , no drop of form, no getting the flu excuses.
He had his bags packed last year up until Milans trip to Turin where they played back2back games vs Juve & Torino. Those 2 games fooled Maldini to bring him back this year. No matter what he does in the last 5 games ( personally don’t expect much) he needs to be gone at the end of the season.

    1. Worst player number 10 are lord Hakan . You don’t watch lord Hakan in first, second, third season? You don’t know how disastrous lord Hakan in season 2 under Gattuso? He just scored 3 goals from 35 appearance in serie A and few asist below 4, more worst he wanted many chance since in stat that season his shooting are above Suso ,Higuain/piatek . And you say lord Hakan more better than brahim?

      1. I saw Hakan, Honda, Seedorf, Rui Costa, Boban, Savicevic wear Milan #10 jersey and Brahim Diaz is the worst.
“Lord” Hakan is 10 times the player that Brahim will ever be. People feelings and hatred for how Hakan left doesn’t change the fact that Milan downgraded at that position . If Milan had any other options Brahim would have spent as much time on the field playing as his buddy Samu Castillejo.

  3. “Worst player to ever wear Milans #10 jersey (including Honda).”

No need to read any further as if someone really thinks so, (s)he clearly knows nothing about football.

  4. Get CDK and send this joker back to Madrid, not fit to wear the no.10 at a historic club like AC Milan fr, he tried but its just not what Milan is looking for… we’ll never win the serie A with him as our first choice no.10

  6. Diaz is just like Suso was. Quite good three months and then nothing. If the club has new funds from Bahrain, we need world class players now.
