Brahim Diaz responds to question regarding Real Madrid return; reveals why he chose Milan

By Oliver Fisher -

Brahim Diaz has refused to rule out the possibility of returning to Real Madrid once the season is over, but has insisted his focus is on AC Milan.

The attacking midfielder joined on loan from Real Madrid earlier in the month, and while it is officially a dry loan a number of reliable sources have confirmed that the Rossoneri will enter discussions with Los Blancos over a permanent deal as the season progresses.

The Spaniard – who arrived in the Spanish capital from Manchester City – made his first Serie A start for Milan during Sunday night’s 3-0 win Spezia at San Siro.

The 21-year-old has also been called up to the Spain U21 squad for their upcoming internationals, and he spoke to Spanish outlet AS about his start to life in Italy.

How have you adapted to Italy?

“Very good. I was very well received by the club. I am very happy. I hope we will continue our work so far. The adaptation is usually slow, but in my case it was very fast. I am part of an ambitious and qualitative group. We want to do a lot of good.”

What are the differences between playing in Spain, England and Italy?

“Every league is different. Football in Italy is more tactical and physical. Playing in three different countries allows you to develop as a player.”

How has your collaboration with Ibrahimović been?

“He’s a great man, both on the pitch and in the dressing room. He is very helpful.”

Almost half of Europe wanted you. Why did you choose Milan?

“I have received many offers, but do not know the details. Milan is a club with a great history and a great design. Milan have won almost all games since the resumption of football. Good talks with them and their interest made me choose this great club. We want to be a great Milan again and I think this goal can be achieved. We make a good and winning team.”

Why did you choose to leave Real Madrid?

“I wanted to play regularly. Despite the transfer, I have a very good relationship with Real Madrid. I want to be myself and play football. Being at Milan I feel like an important figure in the team. I have to develop, learn and improve.”

Will you ever come back to Real Madrid? Will you be successful there?

“This season I will only think about Milan. I want to do my best. We’ll see what happens. I’m not excluding anything.”
