Francesco Camarda was the man of the afternoon for AC Milan as he opened his preseason account with a brace against Celtic.
There had been a lot of talk in the media about Camarda in the build-up to the first friendly. He signed a contract renewal until 2031 which was announced yesterday, while La Gazzetta dello Sport and other outlets spoke of a battle with Andrej Kostic for the role of being back-up to Goncalo Ramos.

It was only round one, but Camarda certainly took it. Kostic had struggled to get into the game in what was a clumsy and careless opening 45 minutes from the Rossoneri, so the Italian was brought on in his place among eight other changes.
It took him less than two minutes to make an impact, winning a penalty and then stepping up to convert it. The confidence was striking too, as he slotted it into the top-right corner with his instep.
Then, five minutes later he got his second of the afternoon. A lovely move down the right side saw Samuel Chukwueze get room to lift a cross in with the outside of his boot, and Camarda was on hand to apply the finish.

Chukwueze & Camarda, a new fruitful partnership on the horizon…

I’ve always praised both Chukwueze and Camarda, especially Chukwueze, I’ve always defended him…
