Capello names the area where Milan are ‘behind’ rivals and encourages move for target

By Oliver Fisher -

Former AC Milan boss Fabio Capello believes the management still have work to do in order to make the squad stronger, and gave his thoughts on a potential signing.

With a few weeks until the season starts and with the transfer window only in the early stages, it feels difficult to make a call currently on who will be the bookmakers’ favourites to win the league. However, what is certain is that Milan have not strengthened in the way Inter and Juventus have, with the former re-signing Romelu Lukaku and the latter adding Paul Pogba, Angel Di Maria and Bremer.

Capello was interviewed by La Gazzetta dello Sport about Milan and he was asked what the team are currently lacking compared to their potential title rivals ahead of 2022-23.

“It is the team that, at least with regards the attack, are behind. It is not an impression, but the pure and simple reality. Origi is a nice name, but he has to recover, Ibra is an unknown, he will have to be evaluated in a few months,” he said (via MilanNews).

One player that has been repeatedly linked with a move to the Rossoneri over the past few weeks is Charles De Ketelaere, a 21-year-old Club Brugge star who would arrive to boost the options in attack.

On the Belgian, Capello added: “De Ketelaere is a young talent, he would allow the Rossoneri to increase the level of danger and creativity. Otherwise all that remains is to rely on Leao and Giroud.”

  1. I’m starting to feel weird as Milan ain’t prepared for next season , other teams have reinforced well we or sempre Milan is just giving us false news , I want to see official

  2. I knew that Milan should keep sustainable on the expenses but this summer’s mercato is pathetic. It’s almost the end of July and we still don’t get any main signing targets, so much as the champion of Italy and having a new owner. Frustrating.
