Capello and Paratici

Capello highlights ‘experience and expertise’ of Paratici: “He would be the driving force”

Fabio Paratici has been heavily linked with the sporting director position at AC Milan and as highlighted by Fabio Capello, his ‘experience and expertise’ could be just the Rossoneri need.

Milan’s management is currently laying the foundations for the future, expected to hire a new sporting director and subsequently a new manager for next season. Quite a few names have been linked with the club, including the former Juve director Paratici.

In his interview with Gazzetta dello Sport, published this morning, Capello not only spoke about the potential arrival of Max Allegri but also Paratici. He made it clear that if the 52-year-old were to arrive, he certainly wouldn’t be there just for show.

Capello, what is your take on ‘the couple’ reuniting at Milan?

“Good, because they have already worked together. Each of them knows the other’s strengths and weaknesses. I would say that the duo worked wonderfully in Turin, without forgetting the other protagonists, starting with the owners and Beppe Marotta and obviously the players. But regarding Milan, if I may, certain things need to be understood first.”

Is Paratici more than a sporting director?

“Look, someone like Paratici, with his experience and expertise, certainly wouldn’t come to Milan just for show. He would be the driving force behind all decisions, at least as far as the pitch is concerned. But at that point, what would Ibra do?”

The choice of coach would also be up to him, so…

“I hope that whoever the sporting director is, he will then decide the name of the new coach. It would be paradoxical otherwise…”

With Paratici, it’s natural to think of Allegri…

“If the will – which I approve of – is to create a more Italian Milan, I would say yes. Among our free coaches, Max is the best. He is a winner and already knows Milanello, but also the team, having faced them as an opponent until a year ago. In short, he would know where to put his hands right away.”

Milan still have some time to make the decisive decisions but it’s clear that they will have to act in a timely manner regardless. Waiting too long will force them to go for Plan Bs and that is never ideal, as we saw ahead of the current season…

  1. Ibra is an employee of RedBird and not AC Milan. As far as I am concerned he can play Gerry’s mascot wherever he wants to. Just not around Milan’s lockeroom or Milanello.

  2. Instead of other Italian clubs looking up to Milan, because it has the most international trophies, Milan has to look up to other Italian clubs. Milan will never be Real Madrid, because if you think like a provincial, then you are a provincial. Milan is slowly but surely sliding towards the province. Milan needs a coach who has won the Champions League either as a player or as a coach, or at least has the goal of winning the Champions League. Allegri and Juventus do not interest me, because I want Milan, who are feared in Europe.
