Capello believes Milan have ‘same personality’ as last year and predicts five-way Scudetto race

Former AC Milan boss Fabio Capello believes that Napoli are the Italian side that are currently playing the best football, but has predicted a five-way title race.

Capello was interviewed by Corriere dello Sport (via SempreMilan.it) and he talked about the fight for the title which, according to him, still involves Juventus despite their recent struggles.

“In the table, they are lacking the two points they won on the field and which they had taken away [the VAR incident against Salernitana]. With those they would be okay, but Serie A is long and competitive. Allegri will fight for the title with Milan, Inter, Napoli and Roma. In Europe everything is more complicated,” he said.

Milan and Napoli are currently atop the Serie A table with 14 points amassed from 6 games and they are the early pace setters in the league along with Atalanta who have racked up the same number of points, but Capello believes it is Spalletti’s men playing the best football.

“The Neapolitans are playing better for now and has confirmed it with performances of great value on the international field, from the one against Liverpool to the one against the more modest Rangers. The Azzurri will go through because they have quality, organisation and conviction.”

Capello was also asked for his thoughts on his old club Milan, who currently sit top of their Champions League group with four points from their first two games, ahead of a trick double header against Chelsea who have just changed managers.

“They play with the same personality shown in the league since last year. This is an important signal. They will get to the second round [knockout stages].”
