A week after the defeat against Cagliari, Milan continue to be filled with uncertainty. Gerry Cardinale had promised that within 7-10 days, all the positions would be filled, ones that were vacated after the mass sacking on Monday.
Decision time for Milan
According to Corriere della Sera, the game of musical chairs with regards to managers also impacts Milan. They tried to hire Andoni Iraola but he is now in pole position to coach Liverpool, who sacked Arne Slot. The latter has become a possibility for the Rossoneri, according to reports.
Sources in Belgium spoke of Slot arriving with Ramon Planes as director, formerly of Barcelona. On paper, this would appear to be the preferred solution for Ibrahimovic, who doesn’t seem convinced by Ralf Rangnick as a technical director.
If Gerry Cardinale goes for Rangnick, he would hand over carte blanche to choose the coach, sporting director and chief scout. It is an all-encompassing role that doesn’t fully convince Ibrahimovic, who is eager to influence the decisions.
However, a meeting is scheduled for tomorrow between Rangnick and the Austrian Football Federation, who are interested in renewing his contract. The outcome of the meeting will also reveal much about AC Milan’s future.
A meeting is scheduled for Tuesday between the acting Milan management and Oliver Glasner, fresh from his Conference League success with Crystal Palace. The Austrian coach was Rangnick’s assistant during his time at Red Bull Salzburg. Matthias Jaissle, now at Al Ahli, is another option.
