Cassano blasts Kessie as he looks like his cousin: “It’s not the player I respect”

Franck Kessie’s contract with AC Milan will expire next summer and in the negotiations with the club, he has been asking for a very high salary. His performances on the pitch, however, suggest he shouldn’t get near that.

The midfielder has struggled big-time at the start of this season. Last time out, in the crucial Champions League game against Atletico Madrid, he was sent off after just 29 minutes. Two sloppy yellow cards were all it took to ruin the game for Milan.

Speaking live on Bobo Vieri’s Twitch channel, BoboTV, Antonio Cassano (via MilanNews) shared his thoughts on Kessie and the renewal situation. He made it clear that the midfielder must step up his game.

“They put Atletico Madrid under, the result could have been even better (in Milan’s favour). Then the decisions of the referee and VAR were scandalous, but Kessie can’t do certain things. Forget the red card, I don’t know what problem he really has, it’s not the Kessie I respect.

“I used to put him at Bayern, PSG but this isn’t Kessie. I tell the player and Milan, find a solution that works for both. This is his distant cousin, if he hadn’t done these things, Milan would’ve won against Atletico. He plays badly in terms of concepts and attitudes,” he concluded.

Milan will take on Atalanta tomorrow evening and Kessie is expected to play from the first minute. He will have to show that he deserves a high-salary renewal as doubts have indeed started to creep in lately.
