Dusan Vlahovic of Juventus

Cassano, Vieiri and Adani name the striker Milan should sign: “I would go for Vlahovic”

Three pundits have had their say on which striker AC Milan should try to sign during the upcoming summer transfer window.

It has been well documented that Milan are in the market for a new centre-forward given that Zlatan Ibrahimovic is 41 and retirement is on the horizon while neither Ante Rebic nor Divock Origi have convinced in supporting Olivier Giroud this season so far.

There was some interested discussion yesterday during Bobo TV, and everything came from the comment of Antonio Cassano who believes that Milan could go out and sign a striker from one of their biggest rivals.

“If I were Milan I would go for Vlahovic. If you get to the Champions League you have to sign a strong striker. You took on Ibra at a tragic moment and it went well, Giroud has never exceeded 15 goals in his career,” he said (via SempreMilan.it).

“Milan are doing an exceptional job and have one of the best goalkeepers in the world, they’re covered in midfield, they have Leao who should stay, if they have to make a single purchase they have to put in €50-60m and sign Vlahovic. If Pioli arrives in the top four, you have to make a sacrifice for him…

“And I repeat, I’d turn to Vlahovic who will want to relaunch himself and Juventus will have to make a choice: either they let Allegri go or they let Vlahovic go. De Ketelaere? I don’t know, he has great qualities, but I’m afraid he’ll have to find a different environment.”

Then, Christian Vieri had his say and he also encouraged Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara to go for a domestic option from a rival: “If I were Milan I would go for Duvan Zapata from Atalanta.”

Finally, the last word went to Daniele Adani who believes that just one striker will not be enough.

“Milan must sign two forwards… There’s the one in place of Ibra, then another to play as a starter. For me, Milan should make Arnautovic and Morata and let Origi leave.”

    1. The guy who is struggling to score even with his 70m price tag?

How is this a no brainer? How do you know for sure he’ll score here?

    2. yeah a no-no, no brainer.
If money is no problem, Thuram… No brainer!
They should try and get him anyway this summer.
      Option B) Hojlund
      option C) Ramos from benfica
      option D) Retegui

        1. thats for money no problem scenario.
Besides, Milan will get 50M€ minimum for mercato again imao. Sell some to raise 30 more and ta-da 80M. Tomori and Kalulu have suitors

          1. Lol, so fantasy scenario? I mean if we’re talking FM/Fifa style transfers then why not just say Haaland or Mbappe? Then let’s add Rodrygo as RW!

Seriously speaking, Wahi will be cheaper than either Hojlund and Ramos. Retegui is cheaper still, but a risk given he doesn’t have a track record in Europe. That said, if Retegui’s price really is 10-15m, he may be worth taking a punt on regardless. So if they’re thinking of spending 5m on Arnautovic they might as well add 10m and get a young and hungry striker in Retegui. My point is that Retegui might need to be moved to the top of the list if the budget is tight, while Arnautovic could still be an option is the budget is abysmal (if we don’t qualify for the CL for example). IF Hojlund is purchased at his reported valuation he will be the only incoming transfer and we need two or three other areas addressed.

    1. It would be fantastic. But the price is probably around 200m EUR which is half of the price of our entire club.

    2. No brainer he will reject us just from financial opt. He will cost more than £200m and will demand more than 20m/season. See our balance got red immediately from his purchase lol

  1. Moment Ibra with milan i think its over. one hit wonder last season was magic. I think no one can repeat it, include the giroud. Hes different. The milan must do its sign top striker. Winger striker already on Leao, so they must go for prolific striker like vlahovic. Not much good striker on serie A. Milan should watch closely with colombo. Naturally left footed striker..

  2. Girod has Leao on his left and isn’t scoring much. What any forward needs is SERVICE. We barely have any creators. If we were to have 50-60m to spend on one player then it should be a top RW, to provide a threat from the right as well as assists. Then even Arnautovic will score 20 goals if we sign him because there is no money left. Let teams try to double team Leao if they there is another Leao on the right side. Game over.

  3. The striker issue definitely has to be addressed at the end of the season. Personally, I think it has been the most detrimental to our failed title defense.

Management made a huge gamble on Zlatan returning in the second half of the season, that unfortunately, hasn’t panned out the way they hoped. Even though it has failed, I think it was a worthwhile gamble, as Zlatan offers so many guarantees, on and off the pitch. He would’ve provided the impetus the team needed for the final push to retain the scudetto, had he been fit. Now management has to evaluate whether to move forward with or without him.

There’s been quite a few names being associated with Milan, as potential targets. The ones that seems logical to me, based on the project, style of play and budget that we have, would be: Arnautovic/ Hojlund/ Balogun. Players like Kolo Muani and Ramos are also interesting options but would be more costly. If Milan wants to truly make a clear statement of intent in the next transfer window, then they should explore the possibility of signing Harry Kane from Spurs. He ticks all the boxes for what this team needs. He scores goals, he can create, he has the experience we need up top. He’d be the ideal replacement for Zlatan.

  4. Yes, Inzaghi was a great deal.
I agree that the last few players we got from jube was terrible, but I think its because the management of Fassone and Mirabelli. (Blagh I hate those two, what a fraud).
Anyway 2 players that I envy from jube would be Chiesa and Vlahovic, which both was our targets in the past but we failed to signed them due to our poor budget.
Any of those 2 players would be a huge upgrade for us.

  5. Rubentus won’t sell to an Italian rival a player they can just easily get more money for in England. Vlahovic could go to Chelsea because Boehly has no concept of how much he is spending.

I would reject the option of Vlahovic because he’s a pretty boy and a poser. Milan need somebody in attack with grit, resilience and skill. This will require splashing out more than in the past few seasons but Milan need to make a marquee signing and it has to be a CF. Then, second, a RW because Saelemaekers is not reliable or trustworthy and, even though I think he is good, Messias cannot be relied upon as 1st choice.

    1. Chiesa is a LW and right-footed. You’d be undermining his effectiveness at RW. Maybe if Leao left and with the money gained from the sale, and only if that happened this summer (because Juve could very well sort itself out next season) and we also qualified to the CL. But as long as Leao is there I would not consider Chiesa.

  6. Why not ? If we can sell CDK + Rebic + Origi , we can afford dusan 50-55m euro . But thats just if we can sell that 3 player CDK 25m euro + Origi 5m euro + Rebic 15m euro . Dusan play well as poacher striker in fiorentina . Use champion league money buy SMS for 433 midfield and ziyech for RW , both can service striker with passing dan crossing . SMS only 1 years contract left same with ziyech so we can get both in cut price deal in summer

    1. If only it’s that easy lol

Also we can’t use all the revenue on transfer. There is some little things like player wages, bonus, and stadium construction to think about.

    1. See my comments above. Why play Chiesa out of position at RW and also Strefezza (good call in general btw, totally under the radar) as CAM? It’s like saying play Leao at RW if we can get Vinicius Jr. Sure, but Leao wouldn’t be as good and probably not as happy. Let’s get a true RW, as in someone who is left-footed, or a classic RW that is right-footed and can cross, not a converted LW.

Now as for Strefezza, this is a player I like at RW, not CAM. He would probably only cost ~15m, which would preserve a lot of capital for ST. IMHO, we shouldn’t even bother with CAM, as we’ve been playing well with three CMs (one pushed up) and Diaz’s loan will end. Instead of redeeming the inconsistent Diaz we ought to spend the money on an ST (Hojlund?), RW (Strefezza?) and another good CM to add to the rotation of Krunic, Bennacer, Tonali and Pobega. Not sure Colombo would want to come back to 3rd string on the bench. He also just doesn’t seem to be really progressing. Instead, perhaps he can be offered to Lecce as part exchange for Strefezza, this freeing up more cash for the other two needs.

      1. I agree with you. Chiesa are good and quality player but his best position are LW and we already have leao with chaka traore ready to promoted as leao deputy/back up. Right now we need prolific striker to make giroud 37 years benched. Dusan fit for pioli tactic and ibra recomended him too. My hope we can sell Tomori to EPL club 50-60m euro since he is home grown in EPL club ( MU in hunting for CB for eric bailly & maguire replacement) , we can sign ndicka free transfer as tomori replacement and use that money we got from selling tomori to buy dusan . To service Dusan we need good asist player like SMS ( contract left 1 years) , maybe we can offe 35m euro cash we got from CL participation ( thats if we still play in CL next season ) , we can use SMS in 433 as CMF or as CAM in 4231. Rebic swap with aster for depth.RW with good crossing and passing are hard to find maybe strefezza or ziyech ( budget from selling Origi and junior messias) or worst case we sell CDK to fund RW

  7. The dream scenario would be to get both Vlahovic and Chiesa in a package deal if Juventus gets doomed through courts. We should have the money now.

Worst case scenario, Arnautovic is a good squad player and close to Ibra play style imo. But we do definitely need another young striker with loads of potential. Someone who’s coming off a season scoring 15+ goals in a good league.

Most important of all, offload Origi, off the side of the road if needs be.
