CorSera: Cautious optimism filters from Milan over renewal after signs from Leao

By Oliver Fisher -

There is positivity filtering from Casa Milan regarding a renewal that could define how the club’s project is perceived, namely that pertaining to Rafael Leao.

Leao is at the centre of a complicated negotiation for the renewal of his contract expiring in 2024, with Premier League duo Chelsea and Manchester City topping the list of clubs who want to sign him according to a recent report from Calciomercato.com.

According to what today’s edition of Corriere della Sera (via MilanNews) reports regarding the renewal of Leao, there is a cautious optimism at the moment regarding the young Portuguese forward.

That is because Leao is hinting that he wants to stay at Milan and therefore extend his deal, which is a very important starting point in the negotiations that will take place between the management and his entourage, led by agent Jorge Mendes.

The news comes after Paolo Maldini stated in an interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport that he believes Leao wants to stay based on what he has suggested in discussions.

  1. I hope he signs and becomes a Milan legend. He reminds me of how Thierry Henry was up until joining Arsenal. so I’m hoping everything clicks and he goes up another level in terms of consistency and scoring goals just like Henry did at Arsenal.
