CBS Sports: Milan saw late move for Lille star Jonathan David rejected

AC Milan made a late move to loan Canada international Jonathan David from Lille last night but it was rejected, according to a report.

According to what is being reported by CBS Sports, Milan went for David as their attempts to sign a new striker before the window closes continue, but they made a loan bid that was turned down.

The management see the Canada international as the ideal alternative to Olivier Giroud and Noah Okafor, and an option for the future too, but David was ‘reluctant to make a temporary move at a pivotal stage of his career’ as per the report.

That means David will stay at Lille beyond the deadline but he has just two years left on his contract with Lille and at the moment he is not keen on the idea of renewing which means he could go in January or next summer.

Atletico Madrid have already registered an interest in signing him, while Tottenham are keen too, but Gianluca Di Marzio did say earlier in the week Milan are keen to invest in him.

  1. Going by this summer, the management appear to see players with 1 year left on their contract as best bang for their buck (eg Chukwueze) … so I could see us moving for David next summer.

In the meantime, given we miss out on our 1st choice targets, just need a backup loan deal so we have 3 forward options (Giroud + Okafor + loanee)

It’s by no means perfect but that happens when Taremis Entourage gets greedy.
