CF: Milan earn the third-most in Serie A from Euro 2024 – how much they will receive

By Ben Dixon -

The European Championship can have many effects on the mercato, and AC Milan will see their books boosted at the end of the tournament due to a UEFA Programme.

During tournament summers, there are often breakout stars who earn moves due to their performances at said tournaments and there are stars who move after building on their reputation at the tournament, which is a fear of Milan’s.

This is not the only way that clubs can be financially boosted by tournament summers, though, and this is the case with the ongoing 2024 Euros.

As reported by Calcio e Finanza (via Radio Rossonera), due to UEFA’s ‘Club Benefits Programme’, money is allocated to clubs due to the performances of players at the tournament (how long they were away, rather than how well they played), and how many players were selected from a club.

In the latest four-year cycle, €140 million of the €240m budget was allocated to this summer’s tournament, and Serie A will receive €23.8m of the funds due to the players departing from the Italian top division.

This fee is then divided by the respective clubs, and Inter will claim the most from the programme, earning €3.8m for the 13 players they have at the tournament. Bologna will then receive the second-most – €2.5m, a figure marginally higher than what the Rossoneri will receive – €2.4m.
