Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca praised Christopher Nkunku, who is on the verge of joining AC Milan, during his press conference ahead of Chelsea-Fulham.
Nkunku landed in Milan last night and began his medical tests this morning, arriving at La Madonnina clinic. He has decided to wear the No.18 shirt and if all goes according to plan, he will sign his contract with the Rossoneri tonight.

It’s certainly a good reinforcement for Max Allegri and his squad, even if most of the fans expected a more classic striker to arrive. In the 3-5-2 formation, he will be more of a creative player just like Rafael Leao and Christian Pulisic.
Speaking at the pre-match press conference ahead of the Fulham clash, Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca shared his thoughts on Nkunku’s move to Milan. He heaped praise on the Frenchman and said the Rossoneri can expect ‘fantastic things’.
“Christo is a fantastic professional, he trained very well. The only problem with Christo was that in his position, there was a player like Cole. They [Milan] can expect fantastic things because he is a fantastic professional and player,” he said as cited by Nizaar Kinsella.

I remember Klopp said the same thing about Origi….
Yes. 🤣🤣 I mean what can they say? He is trash, good thing we got rid of him. Even if true nobody would say that.
But it’s not true. Comparing Origi to Nkunku is somewhat silly because Origi has never in his career even put up 20% of the output that Nkunku has delivered.
Didnt Origi score the most important goals in Liverpools history, and win multiple titles…
I don’t think Origi has ever been a starter in the top 5 leagues, so although he could have scored an important goal, that doesn’t mean he’s a better player than Nkunku, and clearly he is not because if he were, he would be playing.
Nkunku wouldn’t play at Liverpool as well. Origi was purchased as a 20 year old by Liverpool. Nkunku warmed the bench at PSG as well. Not sure what your point is about being a starter. Nkunku moved to Chelsea and warmed the bench, played against 5th tier clubs. ??? Your comparison are too random to be relevant.
So Nkunku played as a starter at RB Leipzig and warmed the bench as a kid at PSG and then at Chelsea. If he moved to Chelsea sooner, at 20, he would probably have the same amount of starts as Origi. If we are assuming random things, no problem.
Compare Nkunku to Origi in Premier League, Origi has a goal or assist every 120 minutes and Nkunu every 170 minutes. Maye if Origi was bought by RB Leipzig as a kid and not Liverpool it would be different? Who knows, stupid comparison.
Sure.
I didn’t make up the numbers. And you keep writing about hypothetical situations so I can do that as well, why not?
Even though Premier League numbers are not hypothetical, but their actual numbers.
Origi did play in Germany too, he didn’t do nothing extraordinary. I think he scored like 9 goals in his best season. Nkunku in his best season was contributing close to 30 goals so big difference. Nkunku was also valued at 80mil at his best, Origi at 20mil. There is no comparison here.
There is nothing hypothetical about impact in a game. You see the game differently, and based on your analysis, we are better off not signing Nkunku and reintegrating Origi into the team.
No. You don’t get it. Flo. The point is that what happened 3 years ago or 70 years ago doesn’t matter. Last 2 seasons are way more relevant than that.
Rossi. Was. Exactly. Are we taking Hazard out of retirement? Nobody can deny he is a better player than Nkunku can ever be. So what so you think about that? Maybe Kaka?
I don’t think Origi ever scored 10 goals in a season prior to signing with Milan. He was nothing more than a bench player at Liverpool. If he didn’t score those 2 goals vs Barcelona in the UCL, no one would ever ever remember who he is. He is basically Liverpool’s version of Comandini.
There are several levels between Nkunku and Origi as a footballer.
Yes, and if we compare Nkunku to Origi in Premier League, Origi has a goal or assist every 120 minutes and Nkunu every 170 minutes. Maye if Origi was bought by RB Leipzig as a kid and not Liverpool it would be different? Who knows, stupid comparison.
How long did Nkunku play in the EPL vs Origi?
Both played in other leagues before the EPL. How did they do there?
Origi as a kid was send on loans from Liverpool to a lesser league than the Bundesliga. How did he do there?
Was Origi ever a starter on any of his teams?
Origi was a life long bench warmer that Milan signed to be a starting striker and the rest is history.
We don’t have to compare every new signing with the worst signing in recent Milan history.
Giroud was a backup at Chelsea and he did great at Milan.
Pulisic was a back up at Chelsea and he is doing very good at Milan.
Tomori was a back up at Chelsea and he did very good at Milan for about 2 seasons.
Just my kind of humour, didnt mean to upset you
Origi moved to Liverpool at 20. He was on loan only once. Which lesser league? 😀 Can you tell me please? I’m really curious to hear about this as it did not happen.
Anyhow, they both started at Ligue 1 as kids. Let’s compare. Nkunku 10 goal contributions in 2500 minutes in Ligue 1. Origi 18 in 3500 minutes. If Origi went to RB Leipzig, looking it like you clowns are looking at it, he would do better than Nkunku. 😀 I didn’t make up the numbers. It is also neglecting the fact that Nkunku was out for 273 days in the past 730 days. So all of his good seasons came before him being injured.
And your last part. Origi was backup at Liverpool and did bad at Milan, who cares? 😀
Yes, he did good for 3-4 season in Bundesliga. That wasn’t last season. Maybe we should get Hazard out of retirement as he did great at Chelsea once upon a time?
French league is a lesser league than the Bundesliga where Nkunku was one of the best players.
You are comparing their numbers in the French league when they were young even though Nkunku was at PSG playing behind Neymar, Mbappe and whatever else big money signing PSG had with Origi playing for Lille.
Nkunku got injured immediately after his transfer to Chelsea which led to him having a bad spell in the Premier League.
There is context behind the numbers.
Yes his good seasons were not last season just like they weren’t Pulisic, or Giroud last seasons at Chelsea. Why isn’t Nkunku compared to them instead of compared to Origi?
He played for 2500 minutes, doesn’t matter behind who. If you play some minutes you played them, who you replace is irrelevant? 😀 You are writing like I said, listen, maybe Origi was abducted by aliens and then he didn’t play well after that? 😀 Numbers are exact, they don’t care who was in front or behind any player. If Nkunku couldn’t get a spot he wouldn’t collect 2500 minutes. ?
Giroud had quite a good last season at Chelsea, spectacular sub. Goal every 100 minutes he played, maybe even 90. Pulisic is the only example that maybe can be compared. But he came at 24, Nkunku is 28 soon. Not 100% fit, did not play a good number of games in the past 2 seasons. The difference is that Nkunku is way more injury prone than Pulisic ever was. if we start with 20/21 season, Pulisic was out 301 days since. Nkunku 461 day. That is 90 days per year. Even a season before he moved to Chelsea he was out for almost half a season. If he was 20M like Pulisic it would be an ok risk. This is a joke.
Anyhow, any news of his medical? Seems to be quiet.
Nkunu terrorized one of the top leagues for two seasons, and was one of the hottest commodities in the summer he was transferred to Chelsea. Origi was essentially a nobody, always (even in the Belgian NT, where he got plenty of starts).
Meanwhile, Saladmaker is our star player against f’ing Lecce, so I’ll take anybody. But it’s a confusing/questionable transfer market so far, to say the least
Was. End of story.
I didnt compare them, just the statement. Im thrilled if he can bring some central creativity
So fantastic in fact that he didn’t want to see how fantastic Nkunku but would be for his team. He couldn’t stomach that level of fantastic so had to send him away lol 😅
Tick tack tick tack, another heart attack game to tonight. I hope we dont overhipe them (fofana and rlc) after a game with the curva…at least 3 pts hopefully… it doesnt matter who is playing, we cant decide…😉😁🫶🏽♥️🖤
Good player, but I completely don’t get Allegri’s idea of Milan.
He wants to play 3-5-2, but has just 4 central defenders in the squad for whole season, wtf.
Then, he has great wingers like Leao and Pulisic, and with 3-5-2 he ain’t gonna use them.
Then, he has no wing-backs, he only has Estupinan. He will probably play Musah on the other wing-back, wtf.
And then, with 3-5-2 he is expected to play with 2 strikers, one of them being big target man like Giroud. Instead, he has two small boys like Nkunku and Gimenez, wtf.
It is sheer madness. Though the blame is primarily with management who year on year create poorly built squads. This season is the worst example of all. I’m hoping for top half of the table this season
The problem is that we don’t play with Palmer role in our team. Well, maybe the yesterday’s report that Allegri tried to field 4231 in training has a solid background after all. I’m eagerly waiting to be surprised by this bold move of Nkunku.
They want the deal done and take the money , of course 😆😆😆
Yes he is good for midle club. For top club he cant play at first 11.
Like maresca said, it is hard for nkunku compete with palmer,. even tiji cannot compete with palmer. His best choice only find new club
