CM: €15m clause in deal behind Milan’s decision to exclude Chelsea loanee – the details

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan head coach Stefano Pioli continues to make it clear that Tiemoue Bakayoko is not a part of his plans, leaving the management in a tricky position.

According to Calciomercato.com, Bakayoko is the only player in the squad that is yet to be used this season by Pioli but the reason lies in the clauses present in the deal two-year loan deal with Chelsea.

The French midfielder has returned to Milan on a paid two-year loan costing €500k with an option to buy set at €15m, but crucially one that would become obligation under certain conditions. Those conditions concern the number of appearances (15) of at least 45 minutes to be completed over the two-year period.

Currently Bakayoko is stuck at 7, but last summer the Milan management tried to end the agreement a year early, however the negative response from the player frustrated those attempts. Now, we must see if January opens new opportunities.
