Rafael Leao’s situation in the transfer market in recent seasons has left many people confused, with the once sought-after winger now seeming to have no suitors.
As reported by Calciomercato.com, Leao has gone from being the subject of a €100m bid from Chelsea, to having no teams chasing him this summer.
The Portuguese winger is still viewed as the prized asset at Milan and the player that, should he leave, fetch the greatest fee of anyone in the team.
This season, though, his poor performances seem to have taken a toll on his worth and the poor display against Genoa recently reignited some feelings of ill-will towards the winger.
With Leao now close to his 25th birthday, the feeling is that he must now make the leap in quality to being a more consistent performer.
After Milan won the Scudetto in 2022, Chelsea tried to sign Leao and presented a bid of €100m and a contract that would have seen him earn €12m per season.
Now, though, it seems no Premier League club or Paris Saint-Germain would be willing to breach the €100m mark for Leao, thanks to his inconsistencies. This is good for Milan in the sense that they get to keep a settled and talented player, but the assumption has always been that he would move on for a huge fee.
He is not forcing his exit but rather showing his willingness to stay. His agent isn’t talking anyone. Somehow our board is pushing to his exit for fat paycheck since winter.

Of course are not any demand for Leao from big rich clubs because they understand very well what kind a player is Leao and his lack of personality. He’s lazy, self-sufficient, full of himself, he has a mind of a child, he’s not a man, he doesn’t have hunger, will of success. He has just talent and it’s not enough. I tink we lost the opportunity to sell him high…

Look, if it’s ‘only’ 100M, I’m pretty sure some EPL teams might line up already.. Man U bought a 100M fidget spinner and of course, Leao is worth more than that.
Kinda funny that when our players have suitors, we are all worried that they may leave, and similarly, when a player doesn’t have suitors, we are worried if he’s even good enough.
This has been a rather underwhelming season for him, but hopefully he’ll blossom again next season under the guidance of a different coach and possibly better tactical setup that would maximize that massive potential.
Well the transfer market is not open yet so normally there wont be much going on. Plus Leao said he wants to stay and that is a message for other teams as well.
Unfortunately, Milan missed their chance to sell. Leao has been found out, nobody will offer more than 30M at this point. If anyone does, please please sell as fast as you can. Such an overrated player, now almost 25, never going to get any better.
Good for ACM squad. Not good for owner. He should stay atleast until age 30 . He is still best winger in squad for now
