CM: A new chance for Daniel Maldini – Milan’s strategy regarding his future has not changed

By Oliver Fisher -

Daniel Maldini will get another opportunity to showcase his development tonight, a report claims, and AC Milan’s plans regarding his future have not changed.

According to Calciomercato.com, Maldini Jr. is ahead of Brahim Diaz as things stand in the battle to be the starting playmaker for tonight’s game against Sparta Praha, which will close out the Europa League group stage.

The report adds how in the summer Milan resisted all offers for Daniel Maldini, rejecting Spezia and another dozen clubs between Serie A and B that asked for the teenage forward on loa. Their plan was clear: to keep him at home under the protective wing of Ibrahimovic and Calhanoglu.

He started in the Play-Off round against Rio Ave, but since then has played only nine minutes in total between the league (Spezia) and the Europa League. In fact, it was in the first game against Sparta on October 29th that he made his last appearance.

The doors to the starting eleven are reopened for Maldini and it is a great opportunity to demonstrate that the management – which of course includes his father – made the right decision.

The plans of Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara have not changed compared to last summer, and that is to keep Daniel at Milanello until the end of the season and allow him to continue to grow.
