CM: All-important meeting set over Milan star’s renewal – the parties are closer than ever

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan appear to be heading towards agreeing a renewal with Hakan Calhanoglu and putting the saga to bed, a report claims.

According to Calciomercato.com, the Calhanoglu situation is ‘a soap opera that may soon see the finish line banner’ as Milan continue to work on the renewal of his contract, currently set to expire on 30 June 2021. Today there will be a meeting between the Rossoneri leadership and Calhanoglu’s agent Gordon Stipic, which will be a third summit with Maldini and Massara.

Milan are confident because the parties – compared to the last few weeks – are closer than they have ever been. The offer on the table is €4m net per season while the request is €5.5m net, going down to €5m at the minimum. The gap of €1million can be bridged with the inclusion of bonuses, and the hope is that one of two delicate situations (the other being Gianluigi Donnarumma’s renewal) can soon be put to bed.
