CM: Background on Gabbia’s rise – Parma made January offer, new contract in the works

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan will sit down with young defender Matteo Gabbia in the coming months to work out a contract renewal, according to a report.

Gabbia made his league debut for the Rossoneri on Monday night as Simon Kjaer and Mateo Musacchio both sustained muscle problems, and the 20-year-old was very impressive at keeping Andrea Belotti at bay alongside Alessio Romagnoli.

As Calciomercato.com note, the Milan defender is working hard at Milanello to be ready for any situation or opportunity that may arise, just as it did earlier in the week.

The outlet confirms that in the coming months Gabbia will renew his contract with Milan and his deal will be extended from 2023 to 2024 with an increase in salary.

During the winter mercato there was the possibility of a transfer to Parma, who submitted an offer of a paid loan, but Milan club preferred the idea of keeping the Italy U21 international around to develop and also as cover in case of an emergency in the defence.
