CM: Bayer Leverkusen striker only considered a last-minute option by Milan

By Oliver Fisher -

Reports began circulating yesterday claiming that AC Milan are interested in signing Sardar Azmoun from Bayer Leverkusen, but they appear to be wide of the mark.

According to the latest from Calciomercato.com, Milan are awaiting signals from London for Armando Broja even if Chelsea do not seem inclined to give the go-ahead for the Albanian to go out on loan.

That’s why the Rossoneri club must start looking around to evaluate any alternatives that could take the place of Lorenzo Colombo in the squad, with Azmoun the latest name to begin doing the rounds.

He has struggled in Germany since leaving Zenit St. Petersburg and could therefore seek to change clubs, and while Azmoun’s name is on Geoffrey Moncada and Antonio D’Ottavio’s list, he is not near the top.

There is not believed to be any ongoing negotiation with either the Iranian international or the Bundesliga club. Instead, the 28-year-old is seen as a last-minute opportunity for the final stages of the mercato should Broja or Hugo Ekitike of PSG not arrive.
